East Coast Adoptions Transport 10/4
Happy tails to all of these pups that are on to their next chapter in life! Two weeks ago, a co-driver (Michelle) and myself took all of these babies up the east coast to their new forever homes! We made stops from Virginia to New Jersey... New York to Maryland... and everywhere in between! It took us 4 days total of driving straight through but I am so happy to have played a part in helping these dogs get to their next big adventure!
Why send dogs up north?
Because every Houston area shelter is at code red status, meaning they have absolutely no more room to intake the strays and owner surrenders that need help. We have a pet overpopulation problem here in southeast Texas and our animals desperately need help. Our constant warm weather leads to a higher reproduction rate in intact pets, thereby causing our shelters to be overrun and have higher euthanasia rates. Our states spay and neuter laws are also less strict than northern states, allowing for that overpopulation crisis to continue. Northern states do not suffer from the extreme overpopulation that we do here, meaning their adoption choices are limited. We are giving these pets a chance for a better life and families that have been searching for the perfect fit more options.
